Labor Day Weekend

Well I am a little behind here, but I wanted to post about Labor Day weekend because it was a lot of fun!  On Saturday we went to Hollywild Animal Park.  We go to the Greenville Zoo all the time (we're members) but had never been to this place.  It is about 1/2 hour away - out in the country.  It is a little more "wild" than the regular zoo.  They also have a huge section that is like a safari, where the animals run free in this HUGE area (like you can't even see to the edge of the property when you drive through) and you go through on a safari bus.  It was so cool, and Grady loved it.

Here we are right after arriving - Grady was instantly chasing the chickens.  He LOVES him some chickens.  That was one crazy thing about this place - there were chickens, peacocks, ducks, and geese running free everywhere!  It made for a very "wild" atmosphere.

ponies

zebra - this guy has been in some movies and a bunch of ads.  That's sort of their thing there - many of the animals have been used in movies and ads.  They have a sign near each one telling what they have been in.

capybera (?) - largest rodent in the world

but they loved Eric

pigs and a freakishly large goat of some sort

Feeding baby deer - Grady is so gentle, and it was funny because the sign said to keep your voices down.  Once we told Grady that he would whisper SO quietly.

pony ride - only his second one ever

It started to get super hot as we went out on the safari, but it was amazing!

Hello!

This zebra ate right out of my hand, but Eric missed the picture

zedonk (zebra-donkey) - Eric found this hilarious and was using the term "zedonkadonk" all day

they had all these exotic cattle too

The next day we had the luau party at the neighborhood pool.

While getting ready I had to snap a picture of G in his undies (these happen to be training ones, but he mostly wears regular ones).  It is so funny to see someone so small in underwear (and Nana specifically requested pictures because she is crazy like that).  By the way, Grady is doing GREAT in his underwear.  He stays dry all day now.  We can go out and about wherever and he will hold it or go in a public bathroom, if necessary (actually, he loves them -  WHY?).

He wanted to ride his Kawasaki the whole way there.  Usually he rides his tricycle to the pool now.

Oh the excitement of a juice box!

So it was a great weekend!

This past week Grady started school.  He did even better on the second day of school.  He RAN into the school when we got there.  And when I went to leave, he just said "OK - bye Mama" and gave me a kiss.  On Friday we went to the Children's Museum with our friends Susannah and Berit.  The kids had a blast and got along well.

Yesterday we went to the "Big Dig".  It is basically a "construction theme park".  Grady drove 2 excavators, went in a bucket truck (65 feet up!) with Mama, and got to sit in the school bus and fire truck.  It was little boy heaven!  I took lots of pictures, so those will be coming!
