Grady in July!

Well of course Grady has been cracking me up, as usual.  He has (as always) been talking up a storm.  He INCESSANTLY asks questions.  He asks "why?" the most, but also asks "what" "where" and "how" questions plenty :)  A few other cute things he has been saying:

-"What's going on here?" if he doesn't know what we are talking about or what is happening.
- When Eric was telling a story and got a little loud at one part, Grady said "Dada, you need to use your inside voice."
-He told a story about himself going to pick bananas.  He said he drove and went alone.  He told the story in much detail, including sound effects at parts.  When we asked whether he drove Mama's car, he said "no - a car with no roof" (a convertible).
-He said he wants to drive an excavator when he gets big.
-When Eric and Grady came to get me from the salon yesterday Grady said "Mama, why does your hair look so beautiful?"
-Yesterday he interrupted me and Eric talking.  He will always say "excuse me" first.  Then he said "I have something to tell you."  So I say "what is it?" and he says "I love you SO SO SO much!"

He just makes up stories incessantly.  He will add so much detail and sometimes even claim that things really happened.

Besides talking, Grady has also been going on the big kid swings now!  He is even sort of learning to pump his legs (he's trying anyway).  He just loves it too!  The other day we took him to the elementary school where he will go some day, and he wanted to stay and just swing forever.

Now for pictures!

The morning of the Fourth of July - the first time he wore his shark swimmy suit.  Granted, he goes underwater and everything now, which is more impressive, I guess.   But I am glad that he has a way to be independent in the water now too.

Pure joy - he loves the pool and would probably never get out if it weren't for the fact that he gets cold SO easily.  I mean, it will be 95 degrees, and the pool is bathwater, and he gets blue - crazy.

bundled up, having a snack

At Monkey Joe's - not a good picture of G, but it cracks me up how tiny he looks going down that slide!  We were actually there again yesterday, and he had the best time he has ever had there.  He had a smile the ENTIRE time.

playing around downtown - he asks to "go downtown" a lot now

on the stage they use for Shakespeare in the Park

wishing at the fountains

enjoying a lollipop after a good lunch - how excited can he be?

he loves anything that scares him (and me) half to death - like this

eating jellybeans outside a cool new candy shop they just opened downtown - it's like an old-time candy store

more of his beloved fountains - they are everywhere downtown

A couple weeks ago Grady asked to paint.  I set him up on his picnic table outside while I made lunch inside and Eric did yardwork.  It was fingerpaint, but he asked to use paintbrushes.  Eric was right there but he wasn't really interacting with him - Grady was just doing it all alone.  Anyway, it just amazed me because he sat there and painted for about 20 minutes and made me this beautiful painting.  It's all blue and green - like beautiful ocean colors.  I just love it - my little artist.  He never used to like doing artwork, but after taking art at Gymboree he has really started liking it.  He will talk about "my artwork" and get very proud.

I came out to check on his progress

Hahaha!  Trying on Daddy's new work boots

blueberry picking - he thought it was so cool to go under the giant bushes

checking the time on Daddy's watch ;)

Oh, and here are a couple of me and Eric, before our anniversary dinner - just call us Grady's entourage ;)

playing in his baby pool the next day

We are off to Hilton Head Island in 5 days!  So I may be gone for a little while again, but I promise to come back with lots of fun pictures of G at the beach!  He is already excited about having our own pool at our house, seeing gators, eating at restaurants a lot (he loves to eat out!), collecting shells, and playing in the sand.
