Caribbean Party!Posted on Jun. 2, 2009 at 1:42 PM - Post CommentThe Caribbean party this weekend was great, and Grady had a blast. The downside is that he got bitten by another fire ant. I think he may actually be allergic because it didn't bother him at all the first day, but then the second day his whole thigh swelled up. I called the doctor on call and they have him on a regimen of Bendryl, Motrin, hydrocortizone cream, and neosporin (to prevent infection). I may have him tested to see if he is allergic because the reaction could get worse, and maybe I should have an epi-pen. Not sure. Either way, we have to try to avoid the fire ants, which is VERY hard around here - they are everywhere.So on to the fun stuff...   loving his trucks   now for party stuff... the cupcakes I made - they were coconut with coconut frosting - the kids loved them!   my centerpice on the food table  my little tropical bar  food table (the skewers with peanut dipping sauce were not off the grill yet) - empanadas and coconut rice in the warming tray, belizean sweet potato pudding in the pyrex dish, plantain chips in the glass bowl  the stairs leading up to the porch - the inflatable palm tree was so cute but it got to hot and would not stay inflated  simple last-minute centerpieces for the tables where everyone sat and ate - the "chargers" are placemats from St. Lucia, so they fit the theme :)  play area all set up with 2 baby pools (one with slide), big water table, and Elmo splash mat  Grady and Dada before the party (uh, with the keg)  Just a shot of everyone having fun - there I am on the right, and Grady is with Drew at the picnic table. Tons of kids came, but I'm not sure where the rest of them are in this picture. The kids all had so much fun and just played happily the whole time while the adults talked and relaxed. There were no issues at all, which was nice.  getting messy with the cupcakes  he put an umbrella garnish in his own drink - such a party guy  so that's it - wish I had more of the party itself, but it's always tough to get pictures once everything is happening! |
