Great News!

As most of you probably know, Grady recently had to undergo a scope and biopsy of his esophagus and stomach.  The test went fine, but we were very scared, as they told us it looked like there were ulcers on his stomach.  Well Grady's tests came back yesterday and everything was negative!  He showed no irritation from allergic reaction (meaning, at most, he is allergic to soy and milk - but probably just soy since he tested negative for a milk allergy).  That is really great because it can be very tricky to figure out what someone is allergic to.  This lets us know that is really not going to be an issue.  He also tested negative for Celiac Disease and a bunch of things like that.  As far as the ulcers, it is not H. Pylori, and they actually don't think they really even rise to the level of ulcers.  It is basically just irritation on the lining of his stomach.  They said that it is probably left over from when his acid reflux was not being adequately treated (he was off meds for quite a while because we thought he was better - he had symptoms but since he was teething like mad at that time, it was masked by that).  So now that he is on the Prevacid, and the acid is being controlled, he should just get better on his own.  He will not need any medications or any more tests!!!!  I am so excited that he does not need any more testing because that is really hard on children this small - even the allergy testing.  I guess the reason he has been doing so well lately is because he is really pretty healthy.  They said that it can take weeks for an allergen to get out of their system totally, so maybe that is why it is only in the past few weeks that he is really doing well.

So at this point, we just continue on the Prevacid, keep the soy out, and try to reintroduce the milk (since we think it is probably OK).  I'm so relieved!

Yay Grady!
