17 months old

On Sunday Grady turned 17 months old.  I cannot believe he will be one and a half next month.  Hopefully this month will go nice and slow.  We are looking forward to our big beach trip to Hilton Head, SC for a week with "Nana" and "Papa" (Grandma and Pa Conte).  Grady has been loving the sand lately.  Whenever we go to a park where there is sand, I pull the sand toys out of the car and he plays and plays.  Hopefully that will mean he really enjoys the beach!  Our pool also opens on Friday so he will have a little time to reacclimate to swimming (he loved it last year) before our trip.  I have no doubt he will love it since he loves the tub and loves splashing in his water table and splash mat.

So what is Little G up to at 17 months?

*Talking and talking and talking - in case anyone is interested, here is a list I put together. These are all the words he says on his own (not just copying me).  I probably forgot a few, but it's a pretty long list!

up, down, hi, bye, ball, yuck, bowl, cup, hot, cold, up, down, in, out, one, two, three, baby, uh oh, dog, mama, dada, snack, cone, poop, more, Drew (his friend's name), boom, eye, ear, nose, mouth, milk, wall, door, hair, scoop, Nana (Grandma Conte), Gaga (Grandma Schmidt), Papa (Grandpa Conte), Wow!, whoa, no, yes, nod, duck, car, sign, shoe, coffee, back, and about every animal sound you can imagine

And here is a fun one - if you ask him "What does a sea captain say?" He answers "Yarrrr" (like a pirate or, well, a sea captain).  Thanks Dada!

*Hugging and kissing are his obsession right now - he will go around a room and just hug every person (saying "awwwww" every time).  Last weekend we had a video chat with Grandma and Pa Conte and he kissed the screen many times.  Every time we go near the computer now he will say "Nana? Papa?"

*He loves trucks and baby dolls - what a great combination!

*understands hot and cold and says both words - usually always says it if something is hot or cold

*has 16 teeth and seems to be getting his 2 year molars - the last ones for a long time, thanks goodness!

*loves airplanes - whenever one flies overhead he stops, points, and then waves and says "bye bye" as it goes off

*says hi and bye bye to people (and sometimes things) without being prompted

*has used 2 word phrases several times
