Grady hits the Big ApplePosted on Apr. 11, 2007 at 11:00 AM - Post CommentOn Friday, March 30 we headed up to New York with Grady for his baptism and so he could meet lots of family and friends that had not met him yet. It was about a 9 hour drive and he did great in the car. He only napped for about two hours, but he didn't cry much either. Most of the time he played with toys and we read books. When he arrived at Grandma and Grandpa Schmidt's house, he was in good spirits. We were worried about how he would sleep, but he slept through the night from about 7:30PM-6:30AM that night. Go Grady!
On Saturday we relaxed around the house. Grandma and Grandpa got to spend some time with him and his Godparents, Mike and Tania, came over for a visit.
Sunday, April 1 was his baptism. Grady did so well the whole day and far exceeded my expectations. He was a little angel in the church, barely making a sound. He did great during his portion of the service and then napped for a bit later. I was very impressed that he made it through the whole 2 hour service! Then we went back to Grandma and Pa Schmidt's house for a nice party. The food was great and Grady did well visiting. I could tell that he was a little freaked out by so many people, but he did not have any major issues.
Here are a few pictures of us before going to church that morning. He is wearing the same outfit in which his dad was baptized.
At the church, visiting with Great-Grandma Pat. Doesn't he look like he wants that bonnett off?
The only time of the day that he had trouble was during pictures at the church. He was tired and hungry, so I can't blame him. But it makes it look like he was fussy the whole time, and he was actually so good.

On Monday we went to the Staten Island Zoo!! It was Grady's first trip to the zoo, and he did great. He checked out a bunch of animals and then took a nap.
Here we are in front of the entrance to the kids area:
He seemed to really like the otters, and they came right over to him!
